People who have large cash deals can receive unwanted attention from the IRS. This includes cash
deposits to banks and purchases from car dealers and other types of businesses. These transactions are
reported to the IRS on Form 8300 and are a source of audits.
The IRS is hiring 250 special agents over the next year and a half. Special agents are involved in
investigating the IRS criminal cases.
The IRS has hired a new commissioner who worked as a tax attorney for 35 years representing clients
with controversial issues. Past commissioners have typically been a businessman. This will be a
challenging time for the IRS due to all of the law changes and cutbacks in funding.
